Getting the Story

Back story

As our group started brainstorming ideas, it was clear we wanted a subject that was historical. Something about our younger days just resonated with all of us. Our topics delved around historical sites, landmarks and places of interest. However, with only a short amount of time to work on this, we had to drop these ideas because these required a lot of research.

Suddenly, one of our group members (Lynnette) came up with a brilliant idea. She once visited this shop near Arab Street that sold items from the past. These items comprised ornaments, jewellery, accessories and electrical appliances like old radios and refrigerators that were still in good working condition.

We immediately went back to that shop and were thrilled to see it still there. The shop was previously called Grandfather’s Collections but that has since changed. They now call it Trippies. We met Haikal, an employee of Trippies, and arranged for an interview.

Haikal was warm and friendly and he was very kind to show us around the premises. He also allowed us to take photographs and videos of the place. As we browsed through the various items, the three of us couldn’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and that put smiles on our faces.

I do not know if I speak on my team members’ behalf but personally, I’d like to visit Trippies again and this time, bring my parents along.

Thank you, Haikal and Louis, for your hospitality !!!
We couldn't have done this without you !!!
